Lock In: book your library desk in one tap
Press play (sound on!), or read the short version. This is the first post in Extensions, a new corner of School of MedTech for small tools we build because we needed them ourselves.
The problem nobody warns you about
You want a desk at the library. The portal wants a login, a service, a date, a time, your details, a summary, a confirmation... and then you still have to find your code. Step after step, every single time. And the good desks go fast.
So we made it one tap.
What Lock In does
- Tap your campus. Torrette, Villarey or Montedago are right on your home screen widget. Tap one, and the booking is made.
- Big code, easy to read. Your code (and QR, if you like) sits large on the widget, easy to show at the desk.
- Tap the owl. If you are close to your home campus, the owl detects where you are and books it, fast. If you are far from it, the owl says so and suggests the campus closest to you.
- Tomorrow, same tap. Planning ahead? Same widget, same tap.
- Ask first, if you want. A confirm step is on by default, so a stray tap never books a desk.
Private, because it should be
Your login stays in your iPhone's secure storage and goes only to UNIVPM's own sign-in. Your location is used on your phone to find the nearest campus and is never saved or sent. WalexLabs never receives your details, your bookings or your location. Lock In updates itself about once a week, and that check sends nothing about you.
Set it up in four steps
- Get Scriptable. It is free on the App Store, and it is the app that runs Lock In.
- Get the Lock In link. Tap Lock In in the Download section below (or in our Instagram or Threads post), then tap Add Shortcut.
- Run it, once. Scriptable opens and Lock In starts by itself.
- Set up in seconds. Sign in once with your UNIVPM student login (a capital S, then your serial) and allow location while using the app: the owl tap needs both. Pick your home campus, then add the widget: press and hold your home screen, tap +, pick Scriptable, choose Large, then Edit Widget and pick Lock In.

Made by a student, for a student
We built this for ourselves first. We are working towards UNIVPM recognition and towards bringing Lock In to more universities. Want it at yours? Tell us at hello@walexlabs.com. Next up: a widget you can make your own.
