University enrollment confirmation (immatricolazione)

EU & Non-EU

Finalizing enrollment status with the university, including qualification recognition for non-EU students.

Getting accepted feels like the finish line right up until you realize immatricolazione — actual enrollment — is a separate, later step, and it's the one that makes your student status real on paper rather than just in an acceptance email. UNIVPM runs this through its own GOMOVEIN/movein portal, and for non-EU students on a visa, this step can't even begin until the visa itself has been issued — pre-admission and enrollment are genuinely two different gates, not one.

The document that usually decides how smoothly this goes is your foreign qualification's recognition status: a Dichiarazione di Valore from the consulate, or a CIMEA Statement of Comparability from the Diplome platform. UNIVPM has a direct agreement with CIMEA for faster turnaround and discounted pricing on these statements, but this isn't a UNIVPM-only workaround — Bicocca and Bologna both explicitly accept the same CIMEA statement as an alternative to the traditional consulate Declaration of Value, which is a sign this has become the standard national path rather than an exception. If you're going to need one, starting the Diplome account before you travel saves real time later; standard processing runs about 150 working days according to CIMEA's own published fees, faster with the paid urgent option.

Beyond the qualification paperwork, you'll need your transcript covering at least the last two years of study, passport, codice fiscale, passport photos, and — for visa-track students — proof the visa has actually been granted. UNIVPM's enrollment window for 2026-27 opens mid-July 2026; missing it doesn't just delay paperwork, it can affect scholarship eligibility and access to university services that are gated on being formally, not just provisionally, enrolled.
